Climate Design Systems returns to local ownership,
celebrates with ribbon-cutting in Methuen
METHUEN, Mass. (Sept. 9, 2009) –– Friends, family and local business leaders, including Sen. Steven Baddour and Merrimack Valley Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph J. Bevilacqua, gathered yesterday at Climate Design Systems’ new headquarters at 15 Aegean Drive in Methuen to celebrate the company’s return to local ownership.
Merrimack Valley Corp., a 22-year-old heating and cooling company based in Methuen, recently purchased Climate Design Systems, which originally operated as a Haverhill-based, family-owned company until it was purchased in 1996 by Service Experts Inc. of Richardson, Texas.
“Today, it’s harder than ever for families to find someone reliable, who they trust enough to bring into their homes time and time again. In a renewed commitment to the Merrimack Valley community, Climate Design Systems will focus not only on meeting the unique needs of each customer but looking out for their best interests –– whether financial-, safety- or comfort-related,” said Merrimack Valley Corp. Founder Leonard J. “Buddy” Thomas Jr.
Merrimack Valley Corp. and Climate Design Systems now maintain 75 employees and a fleet of 50 service vehicles. As a recognized Lennox dealer, the company is required to meet strict requirements for quality of work, service, years of experience, reliability, overall capabilities and financial viability. Carrier and other major brands are also sold and serviced.
Climate Design Systems, founded in 1946 under the name Haverhill Sheet Metal, is a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in quality heating, cooling and indoor air quality systems. The company now operates as a division of Merrimack Valley Corp., which provides air conditioning and heating services as well as sheet metal fabrication. Both companies share a 24,000 square foot facility located at 15 Aegean Drive, Unit 3, Methuen.
