Climate Design Systems returns to local ownership

Merrimack Valley Corp., a 22-year-old heating and cooling company based in Methuen, last month purchased Climate Design Systems and is returning the company to its original community roots. To accommodate new customers, John P. Dresser of West Newbury was also named chief financial officer.

For more than 50 years Climate Design Systems was a Haverhill-based, family-owned company. In 1996 Service Experts Inc. of Richardson, Texas purchased the company.

Climate Design Systems has a great reputation, but I suspect many lost confidence in the company when it sold-out to a large corporation several years ago. I look forward to restoring old fashioned, community-oriented values complemented by today’s cutting edge technology,” said Merrimack Valley Corp founder Leonard J. “Buddy” Thomas Jr.

Merrimack Valley Corp. and Climate Design Systems now maintain 75 employees and a fleet of 50 service vehicles. As a recognized Lennox dealer, the company is required to meet strict requirements for quality of work, service, years of experience, reliability, overall capabilities and financial viability. Carrier and other major brands are also sold and serviced.
